If I don't have my Gmail username and password and Gmail isn't recognising my recovery email address how can I recover my Gmail details (at the least my Gmail username).
Is there a contact or a way I can get the people at Google to search for it by submitting my phone number given and / or DOB. The account recovery form keeps being mentioned but I can't find where I submit that from ?

SOLUTION FOUND
To summarise the problem. Huwaei Ascend G300 Android phone - Forgotten pattern security code locked the phone and the original Gmail username and password were required to unlock it. No record of these details were kept and the recovery email address didnt work.
Solution. Attach the phone to a PC with a USB cable. The phone prompts to ask whether you want to use it in storage mode - click yes. You can then browse to some folders on the phone. Find the Android folder and drill down. Within there there will be many folders and working on the assumption apps have been downloaded on the phone (surely everyone will have on a new smartphone) you will find the gmail email address incorporated in to one of the folders names. Once we had the username / email address it was just a case of remembering the password...got that on about the tenth attempt...
If you can't remember the password don't reset it using the password recovery option on the web as the phone will need the original password to unlock it.
NB. Not sure on whether this will work on on other makes and models of phones but worth a go..
Phone now unlocked, email address noted for future and all is well in the household again...

Hi
Surely the whole reason for them sending confirmation email to your associated email account when setting up a new account is so you have the "Verification Code", which they say may be needed in the future, so please keep safe.

Where can you put this verification code so as to gain details of account you just set up, i.e. username and password??
